Ramblings from Reggie: A great weekend downtown

What a great weekend for the downtown. Not only did Groove Walk showcase the downtown bars and great bands, but people are starting to see what we have to offer. It seems like every venue had an event—the MetroCentre had a concert, the Coronado had an event, Groove Walk and more. Juleanne and the Po’ Boys played at my place, and they were awesome.

The IceHogs seemed destined to bring the Cup to Rockford. They are looking and playing well. If they come back to Rockford, let’s sell out the joint! The Raptors went to Lexington, Ky., and avenged a home loss. Looks like they are getting healthy and are ready to go on a roll. If you haven’t been to a game, check it out—it’s a blast.

We are welcoming a new neighbor this week, and look forward to Michael opening his Chestnut Street Grill. It’s just one more reason to come and/or stay downtown for your lunch and after work/dinner cocktails. Michael is a good operator, and he draws people—that’s all good for downtown. All of us at Swilligan’s offer nothing but good luck to the new venture.

Has anybody noticed the new paint job on the Lafayette? Once again, Leroy and Lisa really keep their place in great shape. We should be seeing a new parking lot downtown soon—details to follow.
