The United Indoor Football League has announced the 2006 season schedule.
The Rock River Raptors season begins on the road March 25 as the Raptors open at Roberts Stadium against the Evansville Bluecats.
The Raptors will play the defending UIF Champions, the Sioux Falls Storm, for the inaugural home opener Saturday, April 1, at 7:30 p.m. at the Rockford MetroCentre.
Joining Rock River in the UIFs Central Division will be the Bloomington Extreme and the Peoria Rough Riders. The Bloomington Extreme are in their first year as the leagues expansion team, and will start the rivalry against the Raptors at Bloomingtons new U.S. Cellular Coliseum Saturday, April 8. Then, the Extreme will return to Rockfords MetroCentre May 6 and June 24. The first battle between the other Division foe Peoria Rough Riders will be April 22 at home. The Raptors will make the return trip to Peorias Carver Arena July 1.
Other home opponents will be the Omaha Beef Saturday, April 29 and the Lexington Horsemen April 20. The Fort Wayne Freedom, a team that had the best record in the league last year, was beat by the eighth seed Raptors 57-22. The Freedom will come to town June 17. To finish the regular season, the Rock River Raptors will play the Ohio Valley Greyhounds July 8.
All home games are on Saturday and will start at 7:30 p.m. at the MetroCentre. All games of the 2006 season will be carried on ESPN Radio 1380 networking with WEKZ 93.7, also streaming live on Raptorsuif.com through ESPN Radio 1380.
The Raptors will also have a family section where there will be no alcoholic beverages allowed in Section 223.
Rock River Raptors has now sold more than 500 season tickets.
