Following an opening-round win over the Sioux City Bandits, the Rock River Raptors will advance to the semi-finals of the United Indoor Football League.
In the opening-round game, the Raptors defeated Sioux City at the MetroCentre Saturday night, July 15. The outcome was in question late into the fourth quarter. However, Rock River was able to hold on to win 37-33.
Rock River will travel to Lexington, Ky., Saturday, July 22, to take on the Horsemen in the semi-final match.
The Raptors were victorious in each of the two regular-season meetings between the teams. Both games were high scoring. May 20, Lexington came into the MetroCentre with an undefeated record of 7-0. The Raptors handed them their first loss, 62-43.
Two weeks later, the Raptors went into Rupp Arena in Lexington, and won again, 55-46.
If Rock River can beat the Horsemen for a third time this year, they would then face the winner of the other semi-final game between Sioux Falls and Evansville for the UIF championship.
