Local elementary and middle school students will soon have a chance to score a free ticket to an upcoming Rock River Raptors indoor football game and a free ticket to a Rockford Thunder professional fast pitch softball game.

The two teams have joined forces to launch their new “Read More and Score” program.

The program will be held during March, which is National Reading Month. The program allows teachers to enroll their class in the program. Students are then required to read one extra teacher-approved book during the month of March and write a one-page summary.

The students must have their reports completed by March 31 to be eligible for the free tickets. The teachers are then asked to submit the number of students who successfully completed the program, and each of those students will receive one free ticket to any Raptors and Thunder home game. As an additional incentive, all participating classrooms will be entered in a contest to have members of the Raptors and Thunder visit their class.

Students are encouraged to have their teachers and school administrators find out more about the “Read More and Score” program by calling (815) 965-7000 or sending an e-mail to janel@raptorsuif.com.
