Reading Alive family literacy celebration April 13


“Reading Alive,” a free family literacy celebration for children aged 4 through 8 and their families, will be held on Saturday, April 13, at the Rockford Woman’s Club, 323 Park Ave., Rockford, from 1:30. to 3 p.m. Children and their families are invited to enjoy:

l A Story Book Parade, led by Clan Macalpine, The Pipes and Drums of the Rockford Scottish Educational Society (Children may wear storybook costumes or headbands decorated with drawings of their favorite book characters and/or a Great Big Smile.)

l Where the Wild Things Are – A play performed by: Young American Theater (YAT) of the New American Theater

l Adventures in Outer Space Puppet Show performed by Stepping Stones Productions

This Family Literacy Event is sponsored by the Rockford Woman’s Club and the Rockford Public Library Foundation in cooperation with the Rockford Public Schools Reading Excellence Act Grant, the Reading Department, and Library Media Services.

Reservations are required. Reservation forms are available at your Public Library. Please return the completed forms to the Rockford Woman’s Club by Thursday, April 11, 2002.
