Recreation improvements coming to Flodin Boys and Girls Club

The Rockford Park District applied for and received a grant award of $400,000 from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) and Open Space Land Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) in October 2006. Plans were developed and finalized in accordance with the needs and requirements of the Village of Cherry Valley, Rockford Park District, and the Flodin Boys and Girls Club.

The Board of Commissioners awarded a contract to Rockford Blacktop Construction Company in the amount of $489,972 for construction of basketball courts, road improvements and modifications, ball field fencing, parking and drainage improvements. Future improvements include a new playground and skatepark intended for completion in 2007.
