Rockfords downtown River District will be bouncing Saturday, Oct. 9. The association of more than 460 members committed to building a prosperous downtown will hold its second annual black tie Red Ball fund-raiser at the Rockford Country Club, 2500 Oxford St.
Tickets for the gala are $100 per person and include entertainment, gourmet dining, lively dancing to Moonlight Jazz Orchestra and chances to win prizes, jewelry, two airline tickets to Las Vegas, a day package from 5Spa, and a live auction featuring a specially commissioned sculpture by 2004 Mayors Arts Award winner Jim Julin. Cocktails start at 6:30 p.m., dinner at 7:30 p.m., and dancing at 8:30 p.m.
Julins sculpture is on display in the lobby of the Morrissey Building, 127 N. Wyman St. Bidding will start at $250 the night of the event. The sculpture is metal tubing that has been used to create a triangular 7-foot sculpture with a red gazing ball at the top and in the middle. A wavy metal piece hangs from the apex.
A live raffle will also be held at the event; tickets are currently available for $10 at the River District office.
