Red Heel Sock Hop kicks off sock monkey celebration at Midway Village April 7

A first-ever Red Heel Sock Hop and Auction is set to kick off a weekend celebration of everything sock monkey at Midway Village & Museum Center from 7 to 10 p.m., Friday, April 7, in the museum’s Lakeview Rooms. Cost for the event is $35 per person or $30 per person for groups of 10 or more. Ticket includes hors d’oeuvres and entertainment. Reservations are required.

The Sock Hop will feature WROK’s Riley O’Neil as Midway’s own Dick Clark, dancing to a ’50s DJ, fun cocktails, hors d’oeuvres from the ’50s, and chances to bid on costumed sock monkeys.

The handmade, one-of-a-kind, themed-clad monkeys range from bikers to ballerinas, the Tin Man to Robert Tinker, pharmacists to chefs, surgeons to sunbathers. There will be sock monkeys representing Chicago teams, including the Cubs, White Sox and Bears.

Whether you are a serious sock monkey collector or interested in picking up a fun gift, you may want to check out the silent auction at the Red Heel Sock Hop.
