n Second annual 3-mile run will raise funds for the National Marrow Donor Registry
For the second straight year, the Red Shoe Run for Donor Awareness will help raise money for the National Marrow Donor Registry. The 5 K (3-mile) run will kick off at 8 a.m., Saturday, April 9 at Rock Valley College.
The Red Shoe Run for Donor Awareness is a competitive run with prizes in 14 age divisions as well as a 1-mile fitness walk.
All proceeds from the Red Shoe Run for Donor Awareness are used locally to offset the costs of tissue typing for those wishing to join the National Marrow Donor Registry. Your entry fee and, especially, your pledges will create the fund helping to cover tissue typing cost and recruit more donors. With your participation, the National Marrow Donor Program can bring hope and help to many more in northern Illinois.
Brochures are available at the Rock River Valley Blood Center, 419 N. 6th St., Rockford, as well as a number of other community locations. For more information, contact Julie Tilbury or Jen Bowman at 965-8751. More info available at www.rrvbc.org.
