RegattaTwo ways to enjoy the Rock Rive
Be a participant or a spectator on Sunday, Oct. 13 at the 17th Annual Head of the Rock Rowing Regatta headquartered at the YMCA. The Rock River Rowing Club coordinates this annual event and would like to invite you to attend as a rower, volunteer or observer. There are more than 400 boats expected with more than 1600 rowers who will reside overnight in sleeping bags on the floors (ouch) of the YMCA. Their families and friends will be staying at local hotels.
Volunteers are needed that day to sell T-shirts, give directions to individuals, direct traffic, haul boats and equipment, etc.
Organizers are planning a rowing demonstration and will present educational information about the sport of rowing. Rowing is a quiet, clean and environmentally friendly sport. It is also great aerobic activity.
River District businesses are invited to adopt a team, provide a welcome banner at your place of business, sponsor a team tent at the event, and have a representative at the tent. There may be other ways to get involved.
