A Regional Peace Concert will be from 1 to 4 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 6, at Byron Forest Preserve, Heritage Farm Stage, 7993 N. River Road, Byron, Ill. This concert is sponsored by Birthright Ministries.
Keynote speaker is Stanley Campbell, executive director of Rockford Urban Ministries. Campbell has traveled around the world to promote peace and justice initiatives.
Ryan Reed of Verona, Wis., will speak as youth representative. Phil McMillen, founder of Birthright Ministries, will give the opening address.
Several bands, including McMillen & Company, Sparrow Brothers and American Classic, will perform. Special guest performers are Jennifer Peterson, classic violinist; B. J. Stafford, guitarist; and Shekina Dancers, a Messianic Jewish dance team, led by Alicia Smith of Humble Heart Ministries.
Admission is free, but donations will be accepted. Concessions will be available for purchase through Byron Forest Preserve. This is an open-air concert focusing on peace in our homes, peace in our communities, peace in our world. Those attending are asked to bring a lawn chair as seating is limited.
