Retailers to meet legislators on May 2

SPRINGFIELD—The Illinois Retail Merchants Association will host its annual legislative day Wednesday, May 2, at the President Abraham Lincoln Hotel and Conference Center, 701 E. Adams St., Springfield.

Retail Day 2007 brings retailers face to face with leaders of Illinois government to discuss relevant topics of concern. The event begins with registration at 11:30 a.m. and a luncheon at 12:30 p.m. The keynote speaker will be Neil Newhouse, a partner and co-founder of Public Opinion Strategies, a national political and public affairs survey research firm.

At 2 p.m., break-out sessions will address several legislative issues concerning the retail community. Attendees will then have a chance to meet legislators one on one to discuss the issues. A Gala Reception including live music, food and drinks will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Tienda de la Victoria, on the corner of Second and Adams streets in Springfield.

Co-hosts for the event include the Illinois Food Retailers Association, the Illinois Beverage Association, and the Illinois Petroleum Marketers Association. Sponsors include Sears Holding Company, Altria Corporate Services, Inc., Walgreens, Dominick’s Finer Foods, Inland Real Estate Corporation, Anheuser-Busch, Target and Jewel-Osco.
