Lifescape Community Services has finished the construction of their new vehicle storage facility at 924 School St. This completes Phase 2 of the expansion and renovation of their west-side facility, which began with a successful $2.25 million capital campaign. To celebrate this phase of the expansion, Lifescape will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony followed by an open house at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 14. The public is welcome to attend.
Lifescape Community Services serves more than 500,000 meals annually through the only Meals on Wheels and Mobile Meals programs in Winnebago, Boone, Lee and Ogle counties and at child day care centers, plus an additional 10,000 people through its Senior Assist Program, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) and Bright Side Adult Day Centers.
The new storage facility will allow Lifescape to park all of their Meals on Wheels delivery and Senior Assist and Bright Side Adult Day Centers transportation vehicles inside, away from the harsh elements, thereby extending the lives and usefulness of these vehicles. The new facility, along with Lifescapes main campus at 705 Kilburn Ave., have greatly improved the landscape of the area, and Lifescape leaders are proud to be taking a role in the positive growth of the west side.
