River District meeting Nov. 19

River District Association invites members and the general public to attend an informational meeting that will bring everyone up to date on the activities associated with the Framework Plan and introduce concepts for updating it. A series of public meetings for each catalytic area will be held in the coming months and will provide opportunities for input and debate with a final update completed by March 31, 2004. The Nov. 19 meeting will be from 7-9 p.m. at Memorial Hall (Auditorium), 211 N. Main St.

River District Association is a private, non-profit organization with business and residential members. The mission is to create a growing, thriving, prosperous business and residential community in the heart of the city. The Rock River runs through Rockford’s downtown River District, a neighborhood that is rich in architecture and history. It is home to the area’s finest collection of arts, entertainment, cultural activities and museums, unique dining and shopping spots and luxurious loft apartments. City, county and federal government, the county court System and many types of professional businesses are located in the River District. The organization, with nearly 400 members, works to plan, promote, and preserve the District’s assets and heritage.
