Riverfront Theatre debuts at Clock Tower with Splash!

Riverfront Theatre Company, Rockford’s newest professional theater organization, will present its first theater production at the Clock Tower Resort, a music and comedy variety show called Splash!. The one-day event, a fund-raiser for the theater group, marks the debut production of the theater company, which formed earlier this year.

The fund-raiser will feature many of Rockford’s favorite musical comedy performers, including: Kathy and Jerry Stevens, Scott and Nancy Chacula, Karen Manley Kahler, Janet Bracken, Cindy McGrath, Andrea Uppling and dance specialists Doug and Jill Beardsley. The celebrity showcase also includes Erik Uppling and Marissa Swanson, both well known to Rockford and Chicago audiences. Ald. Doug Mark will also add his talents as one of the area’s well-known headliners. The extravaganza will also showcase the five top young performers from local high schools—Brian Patterson, Emily Rogers, Ryan Bernsten, Sophia Araoz and Emily Rasmann.

The new theater company also plans to announce their inaugural 2007-08 season of theater productions during Splash!.

The production is under the direction of Bill L. Beard. A Rockford resident of 20 years, Beard has 55 years of theater experience.

Splash! will be presented in two performances Saturday, Aug. 11, at Clock Tower Resort, 7801 E. State St., Rockford. Showtimes are at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m., with a gala reception following the 8 p.m. performance, catered by the Clock Tower Resort. For those who wish to dine before or after the show, the Clock Tower Resort’s new Sun Dial Restaurant and Bar will offer a special dinner menu for Splash!, available between the two performances.
