About 100 people attended two separate public hearings July 22 at the Rockford Public Library regarding the new Rockford Mass Transit District (RMTD) route proposals. Lisa Brown of RMTD was pleased with the turnout and said the meetings were productive.

“People are very nervous about the changes, and we did get a lot of really good suggestions,” Brown said.

Brown said the subject of most concern came from the proposed changes on the Kenmore Avenue route. Brown noted that because the meetings were held at the Rockford Public Library, people in attendance were most concerned with that surrounding area.

Brown added that she has been receiving “tons of calls, which is good.” She said she gets at least five or six phone calls a day with people giving ideas and suggestions about routes.

Brown is very interested to hear comments and suggestions from people in other areas, particularly at the July 31 meeting at Ken-Rock Community Center.

Brown said RMTD welcomes any suggestions and comments and said the bus company wants to make sure it is making the right changes.
