Friday, June 2, from 5 to 11 p.m., the Barbara Olson Center of Hope will host its biggest fund-raiser ever at the Rockford Speedway. Local bands, including The Hitmen, Fusion, Toad Soup will be donating their time, along with headlining group, Clutch Cargo. The 2006 Rock for the Center proceeds will support the Barbara Olson Center of Hope, whose mission is to increase independence for people with special needs in a safe and positive place.
The Barbara Olson Center of Hope has been a fixture for Rockford and surrounding area families since 1948, with the inception of the School of Hope, founded by Barbara Olson.
With media sponsors ESPN 1380 and WREX, Channel 13, staff and participants at the Barbara Olson Center of Hope are gearing up for a great day, filled with fun and chances to win raffle items with ticket purchases.
The 2006 Rock for the Center raffle items include a six-person hot air balloon ride, sponsored by OSF Health Plans; and two round-trip airline tickets to Las Vegas, sponsored by Allegiant Air. Many more items from local businesses will also be up for raffle.
In addition to prizes and music, OSF Health Plans has donated tethered hot air balloon rides at the Rockford Speedway. Rides will feature a birds-eye view of the whole event and are $15 for adults, $10 for children 12 and younger.
Tickets for Rock for the Center are available at the Barbara Olson Center of Hope or at any Alpine Bank location for $7. Tickets at the gate will be $10. Children 12 and younger will be admitted free of charge. For more information, call 316-8377, ext. 203 or visit www.b-olsoncenterofhope.org.
