Rockford Area Music Industry musicians will hold an organization meeting at 1 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 1, 2006, at the Verdi Club, 782 N. Madison St., Rockford.
Nominations for all categories will be for the period Oct. 1-Dec. 15, 2006. Voting will take place from Jan. 8-March 3, 2007. All voting will be on the Web site, www.ramiawards.com.
A benefit will be held March 3, 2007, at the Verdi Club, performing bands TBA. The annual awards ceremony will be held April 12, 2007, at the Tebala Shrine Temple, with a festival seminar TBA.
Nominations for Technician awards are for RAMI musicians organization members only. A member can nominate her/himself. Categories are: Lighting Technician, Live Sound Engineer, Recording Studio, Stage Manager and Studio Sound Engineer. Voting for Technician awards is open to RAMI musician organization members only. Members must have your membership number to vote.
Nominations for the following categories must be made by a member or representative of a group. All groups, DJs and instrumentalists must be actively performing and performed during the 2006 year, and within a 50-mile radius of Rockford.

Nominees can turn in a short biography, picture and a CD with at least one song; the information and song will be placed on the Web site in order for voters to read about your group, and listen before they vote.
Critics Choice Awards: Best Composer, Original Song and Album.
CDs will be accepted from Oct. 1-Dec. 15, 2006. Application form can be downloaded by visiting www.ramiawards.com. Form must accompany CDs. They can be turned in Oct. 1, or mailed to RAMI, P.O. Box 4128, Rockford, IL 61110.
New inductees to the Hall of Fame will be: Clutch Cargo, City of Rockford Pipe Band, Blues Hawks, Big Daddy Woo Woo, Cardenas III Generacion, Slick Nickel.
Gary S. Wilmer Memorial Scholarship
The benefit will be held March 3, 2007, at the Verdi Club, with performing bands TBA. Proceeds will be applied toward the Gary S. Wilmer Memorial Scholarship, named for RAMI co-founder and local music advocate, Gary S. Wilmer. These scholarships are awarded to graduating high school seniors from Winnebago and Boone counties. They must attain a 2.5 grade average, and a mandatory requirement is to be pursuing a music career. The scholarship is administered by the Community Foundation of Illinois, and the students are chosen by their academic record, musical ability and community involvement. Applications will be accepted until Feb. 1, 2007, and the student must be nominated by his/her music teacher. The recipients of the scholarships will be announced at the 2007 Awards Ceremony.
