Rockford Art Museums 65th Young Artist Show opens Sunday, March 5, with the High School Division. This juried competition features exceptional artwork by high school students from schools within 50 miles of Rockford, showcasing the strength and diversity of art programs, teachers and students in the Rockford region.
Ted Simmering, a retired Rockford Public School District art instructor, and Steve Coogan, a local artist and part-time art instructor, served as jurors this year. The pair selected about 300 pieces of artwork from more than 1,200 works submitted, as well as named award winners, including the following:

The 65th Young Artist Show: High School Division opens with a free public reception at 1 p.m., Sunday, March 5, and remains on display in Rockford Art Museums Kuller Gallery through April 2.
The show continues with the Youth Division, which features artwork by Rockford and Harlem students in grades kindergarten through eighth. The exhibit opens with a free, public reception at 1 p.m., Sunday, April 9, and remains on display in Kuller Gallery through Sunday, May 7.
JPMorgan Chase sponsors both divisions of Rockford Art Museums 65th Young Artist Show. Additional works from the High School Division are on display in the lobby of the banks main office in Rockford, 6000 E. State St., through Tuesday, April 4. Young@Art, one of the museums support groups, funds awards and ribbons.
Rockford Art Museum is in Riverfront Museum Park, 711 N. Main St., Rockford. Regular gallery hours are Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Thursday to 7 p.m.); and Sunday, noon to 5 p.m. Museum admission is $3, free for children and students, and free for everyone on Thursdays.
