Rockford Boys & Girls Club hosts open house March 29

Boys & Girls Club of Rockford joins thousands of other Boys & Girls Clubs across the country in celebrating National Boys & Girls Club Week March 25-31.

This year, the club is rededicating itself to the vision, mission and core promises established in 1908 to further the club’s longevity and success.

To celebrate, the club will host an “Open House Recognition” from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., March 29, at the club’s Carlson Unit, 1028 Evans Ave., Machesney Park. On hand will be refreshments, appetizers, club tours and special guests. The event is open to the public, although those interested are asked to call 815-972-5973 and RSVP with the number of guests.

“This should be our most exciting celebration yet,” said Chad Bryden, director of Resource Development. “We plan to show the community the rich diversity of programs and benefits the club provides to our young people.”

The Boys & Girls Club of Rockford is the area’s largest organization serving local youth. First established in 1908, the club now serves more than 8,000 youth ages 6-18 with after-school and sports programs throughout Winnebago and Boone counties.
