Dr. Chuck Brown has been chosen for the post of president of Rockford Business College (RBC), starting his position Jan. 16.
Brown has been the director of Marketing at Rock Valley College for the past four years. He succeeds Guary Bernadelle, who is accepting another leadership position with the colleges parent company, American Higher Education Development Corporation.
We are pleased to have Dr. Brown as our new president, said Bernadelle. His experience, education and credentials will serve the college well as we move forward.
Brown, a native of Racine, Wis., received his doctorate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW-Madison) in continuing and vocational education. He also has a masters degree in educational administration and a bachelors degree in communication arts from UW-Madison.
Prior to coming to Rockford, Brown was director of Public Relations & Marketing at Northcentral Technical College in Wausau, Wis., for 15 years. He has also been an ad agency vice president and has taught at both the high school and college levels.
Locally, Brown is president of the Northwest Community Center Board of Directors; is public relations chairman of the Connecting Our Future campaign seeking to raise $12 million for expansion of the riverfront museums; serves on the Business Climate Solutions Team of the Rockford Area Economic Development Council; and is president of the Northern Illinois Ad Federation.
Brown was named national Communicator of the Year in 1991 by the National Council for Marketing & Public Relations, and was a runner-up for national Vocational Educator of the Year by the American Vocational Association in 1997.
I am humbled that Rockford Business College has chosen me as its leader, said Brown, and I look forward to working with RBC staff to assist our students and the employers who hire them.
Browns wife, Becky, is vice president of Sales and Membership for the Rockford Chamber of Commerce.
