The Rockford College Art Gallery will be home to an exhibition titled Hokanson/Shaw: A Two-Person Exhibition by sculptor Stephen Hokanson and mixed media photographer Peggy Shaw. The exhibit opens Sept. 30, with a gallery talk from 6-7 p.m. and a reception from 7-8:30 p.m.
The exhibit combines to share recent works of Hokanson and Shaw that reveal their vision through the sensitive use of both imagery and material. Hokanson works primarily with metal and, while a large part of his emphasis is the formal design or sculptural aspect of his work, he reveals sensitivity through an unusual use of the combination of materials and surfaces. Shaw combines the photographic image with found objects to tell a story the viewers must unravel by making their own personal connections to the work.
The new exhibit runs Sept. 29-Oct. 28. Regular gallery hours are 11 a.m to 2 p.m., Tuesday and Wednesday, and 3-6 p.m., Thursday-Saturday. Admission is free and Clark Arts Center is accessible. Call the box office at 815-226-4100 for more information.
