Rockford College stages A Night of a Thousand Voices


Students from the Rockford College Performing Arts Department will present A Night of a Thousand Voices at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, April 5 and 6. A Night of a Thousand Voices is a collection of scenes and monologues, interpretive dance and musical numbers from recognizable playwrights, poets and authors from Angelou to Shakespeare.

Directed by James Rodriguez, a senior majoring in theater arts and marketing from Cicero, Ill., the Three-Penny production will be staged in Cheek Theatre, Clark Arts Center, Rockford College, 5050 E. State St. Seating is limited; there is no advance ticketing. Admission is three cents; donations are welcome. The case includes local residents Casey Murray, Dawn Niehaus and Rebekah Olmstead (also a costume designer) of Rockford, Charmaine Tidwell of Machesney Park; and Lighting Director Beth Drog, also of Rockford. Other cast members are: Julie Abner (Elburn, Ill.); Erin Ammer (Elmwood Park, Ill.); Katia Grimaud (Lapryrouse, France); Tim Hamilton (Greendale, Wis.); JeriAnne Hose (Polo, Ill.); Stephanie Ihde (Menominee, Mich.); Vera Ivanova (Stara Zagora, Bulgaria); Susie Mahoney (Earlville, Ill.); Emily March (Wheat Ridge, Colo.); Colleen McGill (St. Charles, Mo.); Ticara Myers, who is also a costume designer (Hazel Crest, Ill.); Tiffany Passmore (Chicago, Ill.); Ryan Porthouse (Zion, Ill.); Edward Spiller III (St. Louis, Mo.); and Shannon Tipton (Joliet, Ill.). Sarah Palmer of Salt Lake City, Utah; Rich Agee of Tecumseh, Mich., and Jen McCreedy of Detroit, Mich., are stage managers for this production.
