Rockford Community Concert Association changes name

The Rockford Community Concert Association has changed its name and will now be known as the Rockford Coronado Concert Association (RCCA).

RCCA has secured more performers on its own accord, relying less on the Community Concerts organization based in New York the past few years.

“By contracting with all artists on our own, we will realize a financial savings which will go toward our programming budget,” said RCCA President Mary Ann Smith. “Our artists’ quality and subscriber service will continue to be of the highest level. Our members will notice no change in that regard.”

Smith added, “Of course, it pleases us to incorporate ‘Coronado’ into our name, as we are proud to be a staunch supporter of the renovated historic theater and a resident company of the Friends of the Coronado.”

RCCA was formed in 1963 to bring world-class live performances to the Rockford area. It is a 501C (3) not-for-profit, self governing organization with a local board of directors and more than 2,300 subscribers throughout Northern Illinois.

The next concert in this year’s season is Dean Peterson, internationally known bass-baritone opera star who grew up in Rockford. Limited single tickets are available by calling the Coronado Theatre box office at 968-5222.
