Rockford golfers will get their fill of golf information this season thanks to a newly created partnership between 1440 WROK and the Rockford Park District.
Starting this spring, Park District staff will host a weekly one-hour golf show on the Rockford radio station. The show, called Rockford Golfs!, provides golfers with information about Park District tournaments, lesson programs, as well as instructional tips and other news concerning the world of golf.
Rockford Golfs!, which premieres March 4, airs live on Saturdays from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. Listeners are encouraged to call in with questions and participate in contests. Occasionally, the show will be broadcast from one of the five Park District golf courses.
Rockford loves its golf, said Steve Brill, operations manager for WROK. This show will provide great insight into the game of golf from the knowledgeable staff of the Rockford Park District. Its a hole-in-one for WROK and our listeners.
Rockford Golfs! is hosted by the Park Districts Paul Arco; his weekly guests will rotate and include Dave Claeyssens and Nancy Kauzlarich, managers of Golf Services. Duncan Geddes, manager and head professional of Aldeen Golf Club, and Lloyd McWilliams, five-time mens city champion and, along with Nancy, one of the first inductees into the Greater Rockford Golf Hall of Fame.
We are extremely pleased to partner with WROK, said Karen Weis, senior manager of Marketing/Communications for the Rockford Park District. The upcoming season promises to be one of the best for local golf, and with the addition of a golf show on WROK, it will be even better. What an entertaining and informative way to reach out to the passionate golfers of our community.
