Rockford Health System offers sitter class

Does your child babysit? Does he or she know how to handle major and minor medical emergencies?

A course at Rockford Health System will teach girls and boys age 11 to 13 the basics of babysitting. Safe Sitter classes will be held at the following at Rockford Memorial Hospital:

Aug. 7 and 8

Oct. 14 and 21

Nov. 4 and 11

Dec. 2 and 9

The two-day Safe Sitter program is a medically-accurate program that teaches young adolescents how to handle emergencies when caring for younger children. Specially trained instructors cover topics that include safety and security precautions; how to aid a choking infant or child; and recognizing and responding to other emergencies.

The class fee is $55. Call the Rockford Health System Information Line at 971-1999 to register.
