Rockford Idol contest starts Feb. 10 at Take 20

Take 20 Bar & Grill in Cherry Valley will play host to Rockford Idol Live 2007, an eight-week singing talent search contest loosely based on the FOX-TV smash hit American Idol.

Grand prize includes airfare and tickets for two to the 2007 Billboard Music Awards and a VIP package to the 2007 RAMIs, along with the opportunity to perform during the 2007 RAMIs. Registration is being taken Feb. 1-9 at and, and walk-in registration at Take 20 Grill & Bar, 438 U.S. 20, Cherry Valley. Entrants must be at least 21 years of age and may not be paid professionals. Pre-registration is required to participate.

The contest will begin at 4 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 10. After this initial a cappella audition day, 24 contestants will be chosen by judges to go on to the contest. Rockford Idol’s eight-week contest will be at 7 p.m. every Thursday at Take 20 Grill & Bar, with weekly eliminations chosen by the judges and the audience. The finals will be at 7 p.m., Saturday, April 7, and first and second prizes will be awarded.
