Rockford Labor Day Parade deadline Aug. 4

Applications are being accepted for the 2006 Rockford Labor Day Parade. This year’s theme is “Labor’s Vote—Support Working Families.”

Floats will be judged based on how well they represent the theme. All vehicles participating in the parade must be made in America.

For an application, write to Rockford Labor Day Parade Committee, c/o Mel Paris, 112 N. Second St., Rockford, IL 61107, or call 962-0601. Deadline for application is Aug. 4.

New officers for this year’s parade are as follows: Chairman Jay Ferraro, AFSCME Council 31; Vice President Matt Horn, IBEW Local 364; Treasurer Mel Paris, UAW Local 592; Recording Secretary Becky Snider, Carpenters Local 792.

Mike J. Fenger, vice president, Taft-Hartley Client Services, IBEW Local 364, was selected as 2006 Parade Grand Marshal. All parade information for the 2007 Miss/Mrs. Pageant was sent to local unions.
