Area business leaders from Rockford will be “locked-up for good” Aug. 16 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Road Ranger Stadium in Loves Park.

These “jailbirds” have been convicted of having big hearts and are sentenced to raise “bail” for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The theme for the Telethon Executive Lock Up is “Field of Dreams,” and the “jailbirds” will be treated like an MVP at the event.

The Rockford-area police and fire fighters will transport the “jailbirds” to and from “jail” in vehicles donated from the Stadium Auto Plaza and Saturn of Rockford. Once in “jail,” they will be booked, dressed in stripes, and read their rights. Throughout the day, the RiverHawks will provide the individuals with their own unique recipe of “bread and water.” There will be chances to win Chicago Cubs and White Sox tickets, a trip to Cancun and the opportunity to appear on MDA’s Annual Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon.

Funds raised will benefit people in the local area who have a neuromuscular disease. MDA works to help all those who have any of the 43 neuromuscular diseases by providing services such as diagnostic testing, assistance with the purchase of wheelchairs and leg braces, clinic visits, therapy sessions and summer camp.
