Rockford Park District offers fall hockey lessons

Registration is under way for Rockford Park District’s Junior IceHogs’ Fall Ice Hockey Lessons for participants ages 2 through adult. Chair Hockey helps children develop confidence on the ice by using chairs to help with balance. Rink Rats is for beginners with good balance, who will learn the basic hockey skating skills needed to progress to the Ter-mites program, where students learn fundamentals of the game. First-time registrants for the Ter-Mites program will receive a free hockey stick. Learn to Play Hockey classes are offered for youth ages 8-12 and 13-adult, and Pre-League Prep is for youth ages 5-17 preparing to enter Junior IceHogs recreational leagues. Girls Only instructional sessions are also offered. IceHogs helmets and skates are provided for all levels. Fall classes meet once a week for six weeks beginning the week of Sept. 16 at Carlson Ice Arena.

Sessions are also offered beginning in October, January, and February. Registration deadline is one week before each session begins. Register by mail, phone, or in person at Carlson Ice Arena, 4150 N. Perryville Rd., Loves Park. Walk-in registrations are also taken at the Park District Sinnissippi Park Office.
