Book offers advice from PR guru about how to promote anything without spending a lot and 100 ways to market your business
Rockford resident Robert Smith started in the world of publicity almost eight years ago. After working as a publicist for a local child support company, Smith started his own agency, Robert Smith & Associates PR, in 1998. Today, his clients have been featured on Oprah and CNN and in USA Today, People and National Enquirer.
Smith recently announced the release of his book, Million Dollar Press Releases: Guide to Boosting Profits Using Free Publicity ($17 through Aardvark Publishing).
The book is for the individual or organization looking for advice and experience-based counsel about how to promote anything without spending a lot. The book shows readers 100 ways to market their businesses. Smith also included a chapter called American Idle.
PR has changed over the years, said Smith, a 32-year-old Rockford Auburn High School graduate The Internet and other types of news media have changed, and the public wants their news bigger, better and faster.
Smith will launch a promotional tour and book signing this summer.
The book is available at The Real Thing, 3702 N. Main St.; Borders; and Barnes & Noble by special order.
Smith has appeared in Wall Street Journal, Entrepreneur, USA Today, Black Enterprise and Inc. Magazine.
