Rockford Sexual Assault Counseling needs volunteers

Rockford Sexual Assault Counseling is looking for volunteers to go to hospitals in the Rockford area to provide support, information and clothing to rape victims.

Volunteers will go through a 40-hour training class that meets weekly for three hours a week, beginning Aug. 28. There is a cost of $40 for a training manual; all other supplies are provided. The class will be held at the Rockford Sexual Assault Counseling office at 4990 E. State St. Volunteers must commit to at least two nights a month when they can be called.

Julie Runells, clinic director and volunteer coordinator, says, “All we ask of the volunteers is that they be a minimum of 18 years of age, have reliable transportation and a phone, and be available to be on call for two nights a month.”

For more information, call Ms. Runells at (815) 636-9811.
