Rockford Speedway offers fans opportunity to join NASCAR

This upcoming auto racing season, area fans will have the opportunity to take their love of the sport beyond the status of casual fan.

The Rockford Speedway is teaming with NASCAR to allow the non-racing public to become official NASCAR members. Rockford Speedway General Manager Gregg McKarns said, “We wanted to let our fans become part of NASCAR and receive the benefits that come with being in this exclusive group.”

The $90 membership fee includes several members’-only benefits from NASCAR, including a one-year subscription to Dick Berggren’s monthly publication Speedway Illustrated, an official member decal and lapel pin, and a NASCAR windshield visor. They will also get the 2007 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series rulebook.

The Rockford Speedway is adding some additional benefits to the membership as well. Fans who become NASCAR members will get a free upgrade to a reserved seat with the purchase of a general admission ticket at NASCAR Whelen All-American Series events held at the track. The speedway will host two exclusive members’-only events in 2007. The first is a pit tour June 2 and the second a Rockford Speedway drivers’ autograph party Aug. 18.

Fans interested in becoming members can call the Rockford Speedway box office between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, at (815) 633-1500.
