The Rockford Thunder of the National Pro Fastpitch League will open their inaugural season in Rockford Tuesday, May 29, against the Chicago Bandits.

The Thunder are expected to provide fans with plenty of excitement when they take the field for the first time ever at Sportscore One. Their opening-day roster will be composed of some very accomplished fastpitch players. They have Division I All-Americans, NPF All-Stars and Olympic Gold Medalists on their team.

The pitching staff includes gold medal winners Cat Osterman and Amanda Freed. Joining the two Olympians will be second-year player Serena Settlemier and rookies Cassidy Scoggins and Abbie Sims.

Kristen Zaleski is expected to anchor the outfield for the Thunder. She was the league MVP in 2005, and led the team in hitting in 2006 with a .322 batting average. Newcomer Amanda Williams is expected to join Zaleski and Erin Evans in covering the larger outfields in the NPF.
