Rockford’s Bourbon Street to reopen April 14

April 14, Good Friday, the old Bourbon Street at 1401 N. Main, will reopen its doors as JT’s Bourbon Street Grille.

Bourbon Street was a bustling night spot with loads of entertainment and activities with spectacular Mardi Gras and New Year’s Eve celebrations. Nearly all of Rockford’s finest local bands performed on its stage, such as Clutch Cargo, Harlan Jefferson and Bare Bones.

After being vacant for several years, the shop was purchased by Anthony Foreman in November. He has completed the arduous task of complying with the city, fire and health departments.

“We will try to maintain the New Orleans carefree theme with the exception of food,” Foreman said.

The menu will consist of Southern favorites such as hickory-smoked ribs and Southern fried catfish, and dinner specials that are representative of many regions of the world.

Bare Bones, one of Rockford’s great classic rock bands, will host the grand opening on Good Friday, in keeping of the motto, “Great Food, Great Music, Great Times!”

Still, more entertainment is needed to have a proper launch through the spring and summer months. Foreman would love to see the return of previous clientele; “they will be amazed with what we’ve done with the place,” he said.
