Citing an effort to save money, Village of Rockton officials were scheduled Dec. 19 to discuss whether to replace their out-sourced village Attorney Paul S. Nicolosi, with an “in-house” attorney.

Village Trustee Dennis Meade said: “It’s not that we were mad at Nicolosi or something. At least I’m not. …It’s an exploratory thing to possibly save money.”

Rockton has budgeted $100,000 for legal services this fiscal year, and is expected to spend near that amount.

The discussion comes on the heels of several articles published by The Rock River Times since June that revealed Nicolosi’s link to alleged Mafia member Salvatore “Sam” Galluzzo. Nicolosi was business partners with Galluzzo in Buckley Partners, LLC—a frequent contributor to local political campaign coffers since 1999.

Galluzzo was identified in a March 4, 1984, Rockford Register Star article as an alleged “Mob soldier.”
