Rockton Police warn about law firm scam

The Rockton Police Department is warning people about a potential scam circulating the area.

They say this form letter is from a phony law firm called “The Law Office of Debrovsky and White PLLC.” This letter tells the person they are entitled to money from a fictitious class-action lawsuit.

It comes with a check, and people are asked to cash the check and send it back in for the promise of an even larger payout. The check is fraudulent, and the Police Department says that payout will never come.

“There is no such thing as free money, and if it seems too good to be true, it probably is,” said Rockton Police Sgt. Ronald Dippel. “Anyone who receives an unsolicited check should check with the bank prior to trying to cash it, and also contact their local law enforcement agency.”

If you receive any of these scam letters in the mail, contact your local police department and report it.

The Rockton Police Department can be contacted at 624-4351.
