Join the Rockford Symphony Orchestra (RSO) and Music Director Steven Larsen for a night of patriotic music and fireworks during the ComEd Independence Day Spectacular at 8 p.m. July 2-3.
The RSO will be performing at the Bengt Sjostrom (Starlight) Theatre at Rock Valley College and will feature the RVC Chorale, directed by Paul LaPrade.
New this year, the RSO will host an All-American Barbeque fund-raiser on the grounds of the RVC campus prior to each concert. Dinner begins at 6 p.m., with a fun-filled picnic and a chance to mingle with Larsen and the musicians of the RSO. Entertainment for the barbeque will be provided by Rockfords Dixieland Docs. Tickets for the barbeque are $20 for adults and $12 for children and can be purchased with concert tickets. All proceeds from the barbeque will benefit RSO Educational Outreach programs.
The RSO will perform well-know patriotic favorites, including The Armed Forces Salute, Battle Hymn of the Republic, The Promise of Living, Take Me out to the Ballgame, America the Beautiful, and the finale of The 1812 Overture.
Tickets for the ComEd Independence Day Spectacular can be ordered through the Starlight Theatre box office at 815-921-2160. Price is $25.
