RSO invites all to Family Night

The Rockford Symphony Orchestra invites the community to get a “sneak preview” of the RSO’s upcoming performances by attending Family Night at Rehearsal, held prior to the Symphony’s Classics Concerts. These popular performances, which often attract several hundred people, are free and open to the public.

“We feel very strongly about offering all members of the community the opportunity to enjoy performances of classical music,” said Scott Provancher, executive director of the Rockford Symphony. “Through this program, the RSO serves as an arts resource for anyone with an interest in live symphonic music.”

The next Family Night at Rehearsal will be held at 7:30 p.m., Friday, April 26 at the Coronado Theatre. Compositions on the program include Hector Berlioz’s “Rob Roy” Overture, Max Bruch’s “Scottish Fantasy” and Bela Bartok’s Concerto for Orchestra. The featured guest artist for the concert is Canadian violinist Corey Cerovsek.

Family Night at Rehearsal is literally a “dress rehearsal” for Music Director Steven Larsen and the RSO musicians. In this informal setting, families can enjoy the same program that will be performed during the regular Classics Concert at no cost. No reservations or tickets are required.
