RSO offers ‘An Evening of Rodgers and Hammerstein’ March 17

The Coronado will be filled with the sound of music as the Rockford Symphony Orchestra (RSO) pays tribute to Rogers and Hammerstein during the final pops performance of the 2006-2007 season.

Enjoy wonderful tunes from Oklahoma!, Carousel, South Pacific and The Sound of Music as the RSO and guest conductor Alison Gaines present “An Evening of Rodgers and Hammerstein Classics” at 8 p.m., March 17, at the Coronado Theatre.

Joining the RSO is the Mendelssohn Chorale, Martha Bein conductor, as well as recognized regional singers, including soprano Christine Robertson, mezzo Lisa Nemeth, tenor Dennis Johnson, and bass Paul Grizzell.

Guest conductor Alison Gaines is the conductor of the Rockford Symphony Youth Orchestra (RSYO). She is also on the faculty at the Rockford Music Academy as a conductor and theory teacher, as well as serving as the principal bassist with the RSO.
