RSO offers Independence Day Spectacular July 3

Join the Rockford Symphony Orchestra (RSO) and Music Director Steven Larsen for a night of patriotic music and fireworks during the Independence Day Spectacular at 8 p.m., Tuesday, July 3.

The RSO will perform at the Bengt Sjostrom Starlight Theatre at Rock Valley College (RVC).

Prior to the concert, the RSO will host an All-American Barbecue on the grounds of the RVC campus. Dinner begins at 6 p.m., with a fun-filled picnic and music. Tickets for the barbecue are $15 for adults and $8 for children, and can be purchased with concert tickets.

The RSO will perform well-known patriotic favorites, including “The Armed Forces Salute,” “America the Beautiful” and the finale of “The 1812 Overture,” John Williams’ “Summon the Heroes,” plus several compositions by Leroy Anderson, including “The Syncopated Clock” and “Bugler’s Holiday,” in honor of the 100th anniversary of his birth.
