RSO’s Holiday Pops set for Dec. 17-18

A northern Illinois tradition, the Rockford Symphony Orchestra (RSO) presents the 2005 Holiday Pops in the beautiful Coronado Theatre in downtown Rockford at 8 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 17, and a matinee at 3 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 18.

Joining Maestro Steven Larsen for this premiere holiday performance is the Mendelssohn Chorale, led by Martha Bein and special guest, pianist Carl Cole.

This concert will be recorded by WREX Channel 13, and broadcast over the holiday season.

A brass ensemble from the Rockford Symphony Youth Orchestra (RSYO) will perform beloved holiday tunes for 30 minutes before each of the Holiday Pops concerts in the lobby of the Coronado Theatre. The RSYO performs under the direction of conductor Alison Gaines. Gaines is in her second year as the youth symphony conductor, and serves as principal bass in the RSO.
