The Rock Valley Community Chorale celebrates a quarter century of music at Rock Valley College with a special festival concert at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15 at Coronado Theatre. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased by calling Centre Events at 968-5222.
Zion to Zion-A Choral Celebration will feature three choirs, the Chicago Chamber Choir, the Highland Community Chorale and, of course, the Rock Valley Community Chorale, under the direction of Paul Laprade. Among the concert highlights is the world premiere of The Good Things in Life, written for the Rock Valley Community Chorale by renowned American composer Daniel Pinkham.
Laprade, the Rock Valley College Director of Choral Activities, is a music researcher and has authored several articles and reviews as well as presented clinical papers. A graduate of Rhode Island College, Eastman School of Music and Westminster Choir College, ensembles under Laprades direction have performed throughout North America and have been invited performers at the White House for President Bill Clinton (1994) and George W. Bush (2001). He was recently chosen by the Music Educators National Conference to be its Choral Mentor for the month of January.
