Rockford Police Department to demonstrate safety procedures for children May 1
State Farm Community Foundation awarded a grant to the Rockford Police Department for a proposal to demonstrate safety procedures to parents and children.
State Rep. Chuck Jefferson, Rockford Housing Authority and the Rockford Police Department will sponsor a Childrens Safety Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, May 1, at Fairgrounds Valley Public Housing at 1015 W. Jefferson St.
A limited number of car seats and bicycle helmets will be distributed to residents living in public housing. The Rockford Police Department, American Red Cross, Rockford Fire Department and Winnebago Safe Kids Coalition will present activities and safety demonstrations.
To be eligible for a free car seat or helmet, you must have your car or bicycle present to properly install a car seat or to use a bicycle helmet.
The World Wildlife Kingdom, Inc., has been invited for a special presentation of animals from the proposed zoo in Cherry Valley.
