Sam's Drive In opens under new management

Sam’s Drive In, 705 W. Blackhawk Drive, Byron, will open the 2005 season under new management. The Peterson family proudly announces a new era for Sam’s. Bing’s Drive In, Rockford, was owned and operated for 36 years by the family until 1988.

Nanci Peterson Whetsel said: “We are excited to get back into the drive-in business. We intend to continue the fine legacy that Sam’s represents in Byron. We will be able to add to that legacy drawing on our successful experience gained at Bing’s.”

Sam’s officially opened for the season on April 11. A special grand opening will be held the weekend of May 6-7. There will be plenty of specials with prices reverting to those of the ’60s.

“We intend to maintain the highest quality of products to go along with great service. Good food fast, not fast food, has always been a motto through our years of experience. Our goal is to provide a very pleasurable experience for each individual in a fun atmosphere,” said Shirlee Peterson Aldrich.

The tradition of car shows will continue at Sam’s. Several weekends have already been booked throughout the summer.
