The Wildflower Preservation and Propagation Committee (WPPC) of the McHenry County Defenders announces its September Natural Yard Walk! This Yard Walk will take place at the home of Jack Kaskel and Red Buffalo Native Plant Nursery. The tour will begin at 11 a.m. on Sept. 15 at 10502 Seaman Road in Hebron. A high-quality original prairie and sedge meadow will highlight this walk. There is also an on-going two-year old prairie restoration.
To reach the Kaskel home, take Route 47 north out of Woodstock to Route 173. Go right (east) on 173 to Seaman Road. Turn left (north) on Seaman Road (through three curves) to house. Note nursery sign out front on right before bridge.
The Wildflower Preservation and Propagation Committee (WPPC) of the McHenry County Defenders promotes environmental techniques of gardening and landscaping by organizing the seasonal Natural Yards Walks. One Saturday per month, from May through September, the tours focus on a different type of landscaping design, incorporating native plants and grasses. These walks showcase a variety of members projects. Visiting these natural yards can be inspiring to anyone interested in natural gardening. We hope to see you out there!
