Sewer line extension work begins at Lockwood Park

Work has begun on the installation of the Kent Creek sanitary sewer trunk through Searls, Lockwood and Anna Page parks. The initial work includes clearing brush and non-vital trees in the path of the sanitary sewer. The 50-foot-wide construction corridor will be restored with native plant materials in the spring of 2006. The Park District is saving and protecting all healthy, mature oak trees and other native trees surrounding the construction corridor.

According to Jim Reid, senior manager of Capital Planning and Management, “The tree and shrub removal in the construction corridor involves the eastern section of Searls Park to Lockwood Park’s entrance, then follows along Kent Creek passing near the Trailside Centre, winds through the woods to the Springfield bridge, then along the eastern edge of Page Park, where it heads north to Trask Bridge Road.”

The snowmobile trails have been re-routed to accommodate this project, and the Lockwood sewer work is to be completed by April 1.
