POLK CITY, Fla.—Top-level wakeboard riders from across the country will compete for national titles at the 2005 Malibu USA Wakeboard Championships, July 22-24, at Shorewood Park on the Rock River in Loves Park. In its sixth year, the event provides riders of all ages with an opportunity to be crowned USA Wakeboard champions. Hosted for the second year by the Ski Broncs Water Ski Show Team and USA Wakeboard, the Malibu Wakeboard Championships is part of USA Water Ski’s National Championships Series of Events.

“We couldn’t be happier to have the USA Wakeboard Championships, USA Water Ski’s premier wakeboarding event, returning to Loves Park in 2005,” said Steve McDermeit, executive director of USA Water Ski. “The Ski Broncs did an excellent job hosting last year’s tournament. With the growing popularity of wakeboarding across the country, this year’s event is sure to live up to the hype.”

The 2005 USA Wakeboard Championships will feature competition in wakeboarding and wakeskating. Athletes will compete in divisions based on age and gender. There will also be an Open division based on ability.

USA Wakeboard is one of nine sport disciplines of USA Water Ski, formed in 1939 as a non-profit organization promoting water skiing in the United States. USA Water Ski is affiliated with the International Water Ski Federation (world governing body) and is recognized by the United States Olympic Committee and Pan-American Sports Organization as the national governing body of organized water skiing in the United States. With more than 40,000 members, USA Water Ski is the largest water ski federation in the world.
