Snow ordinance takes effect

Rockford’s snow ordinance went into effect Monday with the advent of the season’s first winter storm.

In essence, the ordinance states when there are two inches of snow or more, the emergency snow ordinance takes effect. It calls for parking on the odd-numbered side of the street on odd-numbered days and parking on the even-numbered side on even-numbered days.

As of 8 a.m. Tuesday, motorists should have been parked on the even side of the street. Today, parking shifts to the odd side unless plowing has been completed. In that instance, you may park on either side.
