Spirit of Women, SwedishAmerican looking for extraordinary women
SwedishAmerican Health System is seeking nominations of extraordinary women in the Rockford area. The Spirit of Women Awards is a national program created to celebrate the accomplishments of ordinary women accomplishing extraordinary feats.
SwedishAmerican is an active member of the national Spirit of Women network, a unique collaboration of hospitals, healthcare organizations, Prevention magazine and national sponsors that work together to enrich womens lives and help them attain their highest possible level of health and individual potential. This year marks the fourth anniversary of the Spirit of Women Awards program across the United States, but the first time SwedishAmerican has participated.
The three categories for nomination are: a youth recipient, age 14-21; a community recipient, age 22 and over; and a healthcare provider recipient involved directly in womens health.
Residents of the Rockford area are invited to think about women and youths in their own lives who shine brightly with that special spirit and energy to make a difference in the lives of others and in the communities in which they live and work. The awards are granted to unsung community heroeswomen who have not been recognized in any major way, but whose contributions are substantial nevertheless.
SwedishAmerican will be announcing and recognizing regional winners at a special event in October.
Regional winners from the Rockford area will be flown to Scottsdale, Ariz. in April 2002 as guests of the national Spirit of Women Foundation for a national gala celebration recognizing all of the regional winners from around the United States. It is during this evening that the three National Spirit of Women Award winners are announced.
Nomination forms are available from the Public Relations Office at SwedishAmerican by calling 489-4340, or on SwedishAmericans website at www.PR@swedishamerican.org.
